The Frontiers vision is a digital marketplace where equal opportunities to seek, share and generate knowledge are offered. To achieve this, the Frontiers platform provides instant open access to all of its publications through the Frontiers Journal Series and the Frontiers Community.
Frontiers is a community-rooted publishing approach has attracted over 200’000 researchers as authors and editors. By taking publishing entirely online, Frontiers drive innovation and develop new technologies to make peer review more efficient and transparent, provide impact metrics for articles and researchers, merge open access publishing with a research network platform to catalyse research dissemination and we popularize research to the public, including children. Founded by scientists in 2007, Frontiers is one of the 5 largest open-access publishers and has received the ALPSP Gold Award for Innovation in Publishing in 2014.
PIT Solutions India .NET team worked together with Frontiers product team in Lausanne over the last many years constantly improving the platform with various functionalities thereby keeping the whole project at the cutting edge of latest web technologies. Currently, more than 135,000 scientific articles from various branches of research are published over Frontiers and there are around 100,000 active editors in more than 140 countries collaborating with Frontiers. Frontiers also offers a social networking feature for registered researchers.
PIT Solutions is the development partner of this exciting project from the beginning. Our team has risen continuously from 60 members to more than 140 dedicated team members!
Some highlights from the 2019 report include:
- 14 new journals launched, including Frontiers in Climate and Frontiers in Sustainable Cities - part of our continued commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
- 54 new institutional agreements.
- 2 new national agreements with the UK and Norway, and another in progress with Germany.
- Our biggest and best Frontiers Forum yet with 400 attendees and 1.5 million online views.
- And with over 135,000 published articles, 700 million views and downloads and 1.3 million citations, Frontiers is the 5th most-cited publisher among the 20 largest publishers.
